WARNING:
The UK government recently ordered Apple to provide a secret backdoor to end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) Apple iCloud accounts. This weekend, instead of doing this, Apple withdrew the option from the UK. Very soon, most data in all iCloud accounts - even those with E2EE currently enabled - will be available to the government, breaking your privacy and security. This includes your photos, notes, iPhone and messages backup, reminders and iCloud drive. We still have a small amount of time to avoid this.
It's time to switch to Proton and similar platforms where end-to-end encryption is the default, the source code isn't secret and privacy and freedom are the incentives instead of profit. Proton is under much stricter privacy laws than we have in the UK - company directors face prison time if they betray privacy human rights and only Swiss warrants can make Proton hand over the tiny amount of data they have.
But Apple is just the canary - Google is already sharing your documents and data with any government that secretly requests it. It's time to switch iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, Dropbox, and other big tech products for better alternatives. We have to stop using our oppressors' technology if we're to have the privacy that democracy and free thought can actually survive in.
Boycott big tech!
